Types of popular painting techniques

Shatush

Shatush is a freehand hair dyeing technique, without foil and without a cap. This is actually a more modern version of the famous Californian highlights, which makes the hair look naturally lightened by the sun. Californian Highlights

In the 1970s, Southern California hairdressers discovered how to recreate this sunny style. They started by rubbing a thicker layer of color into the ends and reduced the amount little by little as they progressed to the roots, creating a gradual fade effect from darker natural shades at the roots to lighter tones at the ends. This hairdressing technique, despite what some think, is equally suitable for brunettes as for blondes.

Ombre

Ombre is a dramatic, gradient color effect where the hair is divided into two sections of contrasting color and gradually blended from one shade to another. Also of French origin, the word ‘ombre’ means “to shade.” Typically, the darker shade is at the top at the roots and the lighter at the bottom, but some prefer the opposite effect (this is called reverse ombre!). Air Touch

The Air Touch technique is unique in that it uses air, as opposed to traditional teasing and brushing, to achieve a flawless color blend. Your stylist will divide your hair into sections. Then the strands are blown with a hair dryer to remove the baby hairs (short hairs), allowing only the longer highlights to stand out. Thinner or fragile parts of the hair remain outside the foil. Sections of hair are dyed in a more diagonal way, instead of the usual linear strands that have been popular for the past few years.
